Breageside, Porthleven 1884

This photograph of Breageside shows the Ship Inn overlooking the jetty and above to the left, a black shed which was Porthleven’s first Lifeboat House. In those days the Lifeboat was kept on long carriage and taken as near as possible to the shipwreck by road drawn by four and sometimes six heavy horses.
